Memphis rapper, Big Trill teams up with the infamous DJ Smallz, creator of Southern Smoke, to bring Ballin With No Jumper to the table. Although Big Trill is somewhat a mystery, he is about his business. This 15-track mixtape features hometown rappers Project Pat, La Chat and Young Dolph. Other appearances include the bi-coastal Fetty Wap, Young M.A., Vado and Young Buck of G-Unit South.
Beginning with the trap hit, “30,” the mixtape has a serious underground bounce facilitated by Project Pat. The track is southern drill, executed to perfection, assisted by Coca Vango and Young M.A. the track is breaking the rap scene. Gorilla Zoe returns on track, “Get Back, Get Buck” a Down South rider song that brings Memphis crunk to the forefront. “Rubberband My Check” has an enticing Rick Ross hook, and is the second single off the mixtape to gain popularity. Cash Rules Everything Around him, in a rare collaboration between Pat and Rozay, two heavyweights. In “Mack Shyt” Project Pat brings his patented rap style pairing with MMG artist Fat Trel, to create a grime infested track. This song will leave your stereo full of holes. Mike Jones graces the track, “Bubble Gum Bitches” rhyming that he is slotted for a Houston comeback. “Trippy Hoe” is a metaphor for set-tripping with reference to sexual intentions. Webbie highlights this track as a true spitter. He fortifies he is not a one-hit wonder, but in the game for the long haul. East meets the Dirty South in “Trap” featuring Vado dominated by cocaine flows. “25 Plug” is chopper music about getting to the money, combining Coca Vango and Project Pat once again, alongside Young Dolph.
Ballin With No Jumper, is a metaphor for those not shooting in a gym. Those with paper stacks and heavy artillery. Memphis Crunk revamped, merging the new era trap sound with the consistent classic southern rapper. Memphis, the “Home of Blues”, is slowly becoming an iconic rap city. Rappers like Drake and Kia Shine bring recognition to the city, however artist like Big Trill, keep it real in the field. Although he relies heavily on features overall the mixtape is heated, and Big Trill holds his own with some of the hottest in the industry. Memphis has no boundaries.
