He gained popularity from videos of him talking/acting tough
Which made him into a meme/internet celebrity

But one day someone was recording one of his skits and asked him on camera his thoughts on a mexican cartel boss (El Mencho) to bait him into saying something bad about him. Which is a big no in mexico. But he did it. He basically said "he can suck my dick" and a few days after it was posted he was killed by that cartel to send a message.

So pretty much the people around him were fake and got him killed for instigating and posting that video
