Just stumbled onto this quote in @esquire from @SheaSerrano and it boggles my mind how anyone who calls themselves a film critic/analyst/etc. can willfully disregard cinema made before the 80s. 1/x

Old movies are where it’s what and in most cases movies today are barely up to par with what was being put out back then

Take any thriller movie from back then, like The Conversation or Blow Up, or even The Seven Samurai (which is the literal godfather of all Hollywood blockbusters) and name me a movie put out in the last five years that is matching it in terms of technique and storytelling

Who nowadays is pioneering anything outside of making shitty superhero flicks and remakes of old stuff... and I repeat OLD STUFF
