You care about black people?
Then you would support them to exercise their constitutional right to defend themselves
Well, that's the thing. Maybe nobody has the right to bare arms?
Repeal the 2nd amendment? Wasn't it wrote in in like the 1700's? How does the world differ from 1701 to 2017? Do we still follow marriage laws composed in 1700? No, because gay people couldn't get married. Are we still under alcohol prohibition? No, times and laws change through-out the years.
Humans (Americans?) aren't responsible enough to own firearms.
but it doesn't work like that though
This isn't a utopia
Tell me a point in history where something of progressive value wasn't won by the use of force
If you say the Civil Rights movement, then that would be wrong, for it was the threat of the more militant factions like the the Black Panther Party that motivated the federal govt to pass it in the first place.. Martin Luther King jr was even disagreeing with what he preached by the end of his life
No matter what society we live in, there will always be ills and that's why it is important that those who are capable learn to defend themselves
But history has also taught us that those ills can be minimized to a great extent under a society that caters to the needs of the many as opposed to the few... China once was opioid free
How do we stop drug addiction? By going at the reason that motivates us to use them in the first place. Same thing with gun violence. And we have long shown that we as a country are unable to do that. There is thus no option but to aim for something more progressive in its place
