... if you want to protect your family how about a baseball bat by the front door and next to your bed? You can kill somebody with a baseball bat..

Ever heard of a machete to cut tree brush? Another alternative..

You don't need a weapon of mass murder (bullets spray instantly, easier to kill) to protect your family..

J-Don, comment?
You are completely ignoring the political context of gun control laws. Who do you think are going to be restricted the most from guns?

HINT: its going to be the same Black People (really just working class people in general) that you be loving so much and all you gonna do drive people further into the black market to get what they want

Chicago and Oakland have some of the tightest gun laws... I wonder how their murder rates are doing?

You need to look up the Murdoff Act and it’s relationship to the Black Panther Party. Who were the ones pushing that bill and who signed it into law?

Again, gun control is a POLITICAL question (you can look at abortion the same way). Who should be entitled to be in control of firearms? Look at it from class perspective

^ Good argument. Thanks for the posting.

I think restrictions should be the same across the board. Minorities will be treated differently if a law goes into place? Minorities could sue if they are treated differently.

Eh.. of course minorities will always be treated differently than whites.

Why can't the Governor of Texas have this same feeling?

She brought up Chicago??? Image
yeah, when questioned about gun control she brought up how chicago has strict gun laws yet still has a high number of murders

As you can see, people think bringing up Chiraq is a cop out.

well it's good that you acknowledge it but I hope you see from that there are means of using guns to help protect communities and fight oppression... it is a necessary thing because the enemy fundamentally won't respect nothing unless it is force

gun control measures in turn hinder just that and can be politically used as a means (even by the NRA-type of folks) to politically shut down these kinds of movements

and there is nothing else to say from that really

Chiraq and co. are not cop-outs they are the result of a lack of initiative (purposeful i might add) to socio-economically care for such places and the best progressive movements rise when residents use the guns to look out for each other instead of shooting each other

and the shit with Las Vegas? well it's unfortunate that nobody there had a gun on them to fire back and put the mofo down. nothing/nobody is perfect and society is becoming so fucked up to the point where it makes sense to keep one on you. All i can say for now is we gotta focus on the class warfare contradiction when it comes to questions like these.

The state and corporations alike have an inherent interest to carry an arsenal to keep people in line. So how are people supposed to defend themselves?

so as you can see that will never happen. again, think politics and how everything in society moves in contradiction (with the class warfare question being at the forefront)

laws in this country are meant to be disproportionate

That's the same thing NRA and Republicans say..

"Only if everybody had a gun they could have shot back"

This theory only puts more guns on the streets, which increases the death counts.

Guns sales and stocks are up today.. that's a given after every mass shooting. For one, people think the Government is going to tighten gun sales and restrictions. Another part is people are scared and want to protect themselves.

Irrelevant but weed is illegal yet firearms are not? Glad to see weed causing mass casualties..

This is still relevant

GUNS DO NOT KILL PEOPLE

PEOPLE DO

What device is used? A spoon?

What is a bullet and where does it discharge from? A box of cereal?

Guns dawg. Guns.

Edit: People do everything. Humans do everything from poop to go into outerspace. People drive cars. People have sex. People make rap music. People can literally do a trillion things.

Guns kill.
I can see why you always choose to ignore questions

"From the streets"

It's not like I don't live in Southwest Houston.

I am white though. If you are black it's a different ball game. Your rivals? Don't join gangs or deal drugs?

Thinking about exiting this thread until the next mass shooting. Then we can argue about the 2nd amendment once again
