FLAC is much better if you have the stereo with speakers/headphones nice enough to hear the difference. Most phones can process FLAC now. FLAC is a seamless recording made from an original CD or Vinyl while mp3s are more like a bunch of small files crammed together where the quality suffers so that the file size can be reduced.

If you have any rare CDs Id rip FLAC from them because you can use a FLAC copy to make any quality mp3 from it, but you cant get a FLAC without the CD/vinyl.

just use spotify literally 5 dollars with the student discount

plus on spotify you have the Equaliser setting where you can add bass to the music and basically adjust sound settings

that trumps everything period
