Many times in other rap forums a lot of people (mainly out of Texas) put scarface in their top 10s but in the Texas rap community we hardly ever recognize him... I mean the man is probably the most awarded/successful rapper out of Texas he went 3x platinum as a solo artist and 1x platinum with the Geto Boys. So my question is scarface overrated or underrated to yall? And why?

Yeah I get you...but at the same time when discussing Houston rap icons he never gets mentioned which makes me think of him as underrated. Personally he is not in my top 10 but in achievements he one of the best

to me he always seemed like one of those rappers you acknowledge, but I never cared to listen to him.

post your list of top 10 houston rappers and I guarantee he shits all over them so fuck your shitty opinion. and anyone in the "texas rap community" who doesn't "recognize" him is a fucking faggot and they're irrelevant

you probably have some dumbshit like 50/50 twin and magno in your top 10 gnr no one cares

Scarface is definitely not overrated and I wouldn't call him underrated... The thing about Scarface is that even though he is from Houston, Face really don't make that Texas style music. He is in a way different lane. There are very few rap artist who gonna reach into you soul and make you feel what they're saying the way he does. Face is the "Grandpa" of rap. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way either. Everybody know how it is when your grandpa sit you down because he gonna tell you something he knows that YOU NEED TO HEAR. Thats what Face does when he spits. I think thats why he doesn't get mentioned much in Texas conversations. People in Tx are usually stuck in box thinking you have to sound like UGK, Lil Keke, Slim Thug, etc... There ain't nothing wrong with that sound. I love that sound. I grew up on that but that can't be the only thing you listen to. When you want that substance in your rap music you go to Face, 2pac, and these days I'd throw Big K.R.I.T. in that list. So to answer Face is definitely not overrated. He will go down as one of the all time greats in Hip Hop/Rap

I believe him to be one of the best period. Who has been more constant? As he has got older his sound and albums have matured. He seems to speak from a grown man perspective. When those around him are still taking about bullshit. He should be celebrated.
