Why can't substance be obtained anymore in songs? Shit is ridiculous every genre of music is turning trash now. Don't get me wrong not all of the new aged music is trash. Some of it is good stuff but damn will the music industry ever revert back to actually having lyrics that make sense or naw it's done?

What y'all think?

I agree with u 100% ! To me it seems like the lifestyle for some determines the type of music they like to listen to. I don't think the music industry is completely gone down the drain, but someone better grab a plunger fast cause it's on it's way!⚰

this is a very tired subject fam, but i'll give ya some food for thought

it's true that music nowadays is much different than the 90's or even the 2000's, but you gotta look at how we are living.

you can look at our aggregate economy as one big supply and demand chart and shit like improvements in technology very so often increases supply to the point where services like music become like fast food; it is relatively cheap and ready to be consumed by the masses at exponential amounts

so yes, at such rates you are bound to see the creativity in music decline as it becomes more like a market-based commodity, especially with popular genres like pop and rap. You will also see that this sort of music will stick to a formula that will have the masses consuming in high amounts in order to maximize profits for record labels. Because that is what our system is all about.

That being said, music also changes over time because niggas are still humans in this bitch and they don't want to always be listening to the same shit all the time. So yes, even if the subject matter doesn't change, the way it is presented will. So unless you are robot, you won't take issue with that

You can combine these two general phenomena into a hybrid explanation of what is going on today. Music will always change with time, but whether it will change for the better or for the worse depends on how it is being handled as a commodity.

i'd encourage you and you other old heads to start thinking about how your discontent with the new era translates into how our society functions as a whole

i'm just sayin tho
